Omnivoyage, Manifestation of Freedom in All Ways
So rarely in life do we find ourselves free, and when we do, we usually feel happy. It is plain and easy to see just by recalling how different you used to feel as a student or office worker on a typical Saturday night and typical Sunday night. Indeed, sometimes it is great to sacrifice freedom in order to get things done more effectively or to gain future freedom, but we should also be aware of different ways that could be better than or as great as the default ones, which are not only encouraged but also promoted by the majority and educational system, and by “the man” and states, that we can live in freedom here and now.
I began an experiment to live freely after quitting my office job eight years ago. I became my own boss. Now I realize that during the process I have inevitably become more responsible, independent and self-contained. Honestly, it has not been easy to walk a path outside of the values of mainstream society such as having job security, obeying authorities without question, or following the tenets of consumerism and so on, but every effort I embrace towards the pursuit of freedom brings me enormous joy and satisfaction.
Omnivoyage.org was born with a vision to share our life and travels and transform ordinary moments into immortality as virtual journeys with photographs, audio and video recordings gathered along the way. I taught myself how to build this site into today's state a couple of years ago. Technically speaking, I know it is beyond my capacity to continue carrying out the construction of this site on my own, and I realize I need to plant a seed of an open platform and cultivate the organic growth and expansion of the site, allowing for travelers around the world to share their experiences in being free in as many ways as possible.
Please join us to build Omnivoyage as a non-commercial platform where travelers can exchange knowledge and be inspired by: 1) becoming a volunteer writer, translator or web designer for the rebirth of Omnivoyage; 2) submitting your travel stories or tips with photos, audio and video, and introduce what you do to support your travels; 3) sharing local or global events, festivals, gatherings or celebrations you attend, facilitate or organize, preferably with future event dates to be included in the Omnivoyage calendar and newsletter; 4) demonstrating various ways of low impact camping techniques such as teepee building, making solar cookers, water catchment, and safety tips; 5) sharing mother natural's hidden paradise with conscious happy campers around the world; and 6) purchasing from the Omnivoyage store on eBay with all proceeds used for reconstruction and maintenance of the site.
We are grateful for your help in re-creating Omnivoyage, an inspirational and non-commercial space, presenting a portal for the pursuit of freedom, and an exhibition hall of the embodiment of freedom.
